This is the first film of the Harry Potter series. This is a tale of an ordinary 11 year old boy named Harry Potter who was left behind his aunt and uncle. In a way he is the male version of Cinderella who serves as a slave to the family. But, then a letter came and he has been invited to attend the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. And he was snatched away from his mundane existence in Pivet Drive by Hagrid and was thrown into the magical world of wizards.


I watched this for the third time with my boo today....

This movie brings to life the world of Harry Potter as based on JK Rowling's novels. It brings good Harry Potter enchanting memories come to life and how one can easily want to be part of the world. Oh, dream on!

It has wonderful special effects and the musical score is absolutely the best! The music gives you the feels of what the world of Harry Potter can feel like. But, a movie aint great if the cast are ill fitted but this film is an exception... because it has great casting, great set of chemistry between the cast and their characters.

You'd love to watch the movie again and again... just like me and my boo did!

Enchanted Inc. - Shanna Swendson

I enjoyed this whole new refreshing novel about magic and the modern world. It has a unique storyline in a sense that being immune to magic was seen to be special. An angle that wasn't explored by many plots.

It's like a Cabot, Ahern, with a dash of Rowling thrown in between.

It gave me "kilig" moments as well. Ahhh so fun!

Liar Game Season 1 - 2007

This is an adaptation from a manga.

It's always interesting to watch the psychological tv series from Japan. This one involves around one philosophy or belief: "Not everybody can be happy." and that "Humans will lie, cheat and steal to survive."
 

Nao Kanzaki (Toda Erika) is known for being naive and innocent. She is a high school student.
One day, she receives a black postcard indicating that she has been selected to participate in the "Liar Game Tournament". Along with that postcard is a box with 100 million yen (about $1,000,000). The goal of the first round of the game is to trick the other player out of their hundred million yen. At the end, the winner would get to keep the hundred million earned, and the loser owes the LGT (Liar Game Tournament office) 100 million yen, "will be collected by any means and at all costs".


One might think that the series is quiet unnecessary, placed on an impossible setting (but I'd rather have this over SAW who tests the "human fiber").

I like how it ended and how the events turned around.

However there's a slight implication or definition of MLM that is quiet misconstrued. They should have used the term "binary" or "pyramiding" company. Oh well.

Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is a dystopian novel for young adults. North America is now run by the powerful Capitol and is now divided into 12 districts (originally 13 but District 13 was destroyed), and is now called Panem. In the 12th District, there's Katniss Everdeen (16y/o) and Gale who hunts for a living. In order to keep the status quo and to remind the 12 Districts not to rebel, every year they hold a game of death, chosing 2 tributes per district via "draw". Katniss' sister was picked to be the tribute but then Katniss exercises her option to volunteer for the games. With Katniss comes Peeta, the baker's son.  Together, they must fend for themselves and survive.


I got hooked with reading this because it has an interesting plot. Although, it's something that is socially and  uhmmm morally not sound. The Hunger Games, I mean.

But, what I particularly liked about it was the love triangle between Gale, Katniss and Peeta. Can someone hand me at least a Gale or a Peeta? *giggles*

Anyway it was a breeze reading it. The author did not use any big words. It was simple but enough to give you the hand or play with imagination. The book tackled many things that can actually make people relate to: love, honor, freedom, rebellion, poverty, family, friendship and particularly survival. In the arena, you'd want to move from page to page since the suspense builds up and introduces many new creatures that came with technological evolution.

Anyway, this ain't something "intelligent", if you want to argue.. but it was successful enough to the audience it aimed for. And it's a good book to start or recommend if one wants to get into "reading". :)

Skyfall - 2012

Well, there are many plot holes to the movie plus add to the fact that there's nothing really mindblowing about the film considering it's a Bond film. However, you get the usual suspense which was at the beginning (albeit not much) and it is beautifully shot. Add to that an Asian scene (Macau) to boot.


Haha. I had an interesting time watching this film with someone, though. :P. Hahaha.

But, then Jack is kidnapped and Frank must once again use his tried and tested combat skills to retrieve Jack.

As much as I hate catching the second part of a movie series... well, here I am watching the 2nd part of Transporter. Great effects and definitely entertaining action scenes, and things blowing up.

Plot? well, not necessarily original.. just that he is just one bad-ass guy who can transport! LOL. All in all it was entertaining. Don't place too much thought about its not possible because it is clearly just something to blow your minds... and well for you to have a good time. :)

Choices and Beliefs was the message. Matrix sure is one layered film, there are references of the one, and symbolism used in the film splashed all over. It was quite a good way to end, and this part showed more action and keeps you on the edge. Eeep. Flesh vs. Machines? Eeeeep. Anyhoo, film wise, it has good special effects.

Elizabeth 4: Downstairs, Upstairs - Francine Pascal's

Anyway, it didn't come off as exciting like it did before... but still it's a good journey. :) Albeit a very short one. :) Uhmm very typical as well. Book afficionados, won't really fancy this. But, kids? They would. Oh and High School too! :)

I thought I saw this part, but was surprised I didn't get to watch this part. Also, I can't find my review for the first part of this film. I love the soundtrack! I enjoyed it. Although, there was too much metal and believe me it wasn't eye candy but then the action scenes got me till the end. The thing that was kind of off was the romance part... it just wasn't working.

Well, whatdya say,... I just love em Transformers! :)

John Carter - 2012

A Civil War veteran named John Carter, was trying to escape and is being pursued by the army. Got into a battle with Indians. Carter then seeks refuge in a cave, and saw someone holding a medallion and when Carter got around to touching it, he finds himself transplanted to MARS. Founds himself a prisoner of 12foot tall beings, and when he tries to escapes, he encounters a princess who needed someone to save her community.

It was quite dragging at the beginning, but turned out interesting by the middle of the movie. I would've dropped it at the first few scenes, but I pushed through. and good thing, I did! I learned that it was an adaptation or inspired by the book Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Cool, right? 

 I feel that the setting is unique, what with all the Mars*Barsoom* thing in the picture. It was also comedic in some parts, which reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean. :) And while reviewing this, it just made me realized that it's a Disney film! so much for the reference, right? It's a mix of Star Wars (weird beings), Indiana Jones (the first few scenes), a bit of Avatar, Prince of Persia and yeah, Pirates of the Caribbean (for the funny scenes). Great CGI too.

Anyway, its a good film to watch, despite it's bad critic for people who judged before watching the film. It's a good layered film, with a love story thrown between a Princess of Helium and an Earthling, coupled with some emotional and other funny scenes. It's simple, so don't overthink the whole movie, okayyy?

In short, I had a blast as I was transported to the Red Planet, Barsoom. :)

As the legendary Beowulf Agate, a retired CIA officer is back in the scene, partners with another CIA agent Cameron Pryce. As usual, it's a wild goose chase from different parts of the world.

One of those books that are hard to put down and something you don't want to end but with the curiosity of how it will eventually end. Ever get that feeling? I thought for awhile there I'm not into books like these anymore... but still I enjoy reading them. For entertainment.. :) Ludlum will always always be my favorite.

I heard these series will be made into a movie, but it's been awhile since the last announcement and the movie aint up until now. I do hope, they make this into a movie! :)

I almost did not want to watch the final film of Harry Potter... because I'll miss the wait of the next film. Boohoo. But, yeah after a few delays I saw it with my sister. This is the darkest among the films. Cinematography was great..... although the movie was great, it could've been better specially if the "emotional impact" was well thought out of. Specially, if the director knows everyone is already emotional since this will be the last film and all.

I won't delve into details... but its definitely a movie everyone should watch.

But, since this is my favorite series... haha. I am definitely giving it a 5.... :)

Overview and Review of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian directed by Andrew Adamson

It's been a year since their first adventure in Narnia.

When Prince Caspian blew Susan's horn (which she left in Narnia) Peter Pevensie,(William Moseley) Susan Pevensie (Anna Popplewell) , Edmund Pevensie (Skandar Keynes)and Lucy Pevensie(Georgie Henley) finds themselves being pulled back to Narnia. They found out that hundreds of years have passed in the land of Narnia and Narnians are thought to be extinct and it is now ruled by General Miraz, uncle to the true heir, which is Prince Caspian(Ben Barnes). This time the Pevensie's with the help of Prince Caspian and Reepicheep must set out to overthrow the General while looking for Aslan.

Caspian that they actually originated from the same Earth as the Pevensies. Years ago, pirates in the "South Sea" (of our world) came upon an island, and, after entering a cave, fell (through a chasm) into Telmar. Telmar is the country to the West of Narnia. After many years in Narnian time, the Telmarines, who suffered famine and internal conflict, invaded and seiged Narnia. During this time, the animals of Narnia fled into hiding, as the human Telmarines came to dominate the land. Prince Caspian was the tenth in a line of kings by that name.

Narnians thought Aslan forgot them, but actually Aslan was just waiting for them and everything have their own season. Also a story of treachery or betrayal over POWER. That it always, almost happens and you shouldn't be surprised. It also portrayed a lot of good things, specially when you are faced with a person "you would love to really hate and kill" because he has wronged you big time. And this is just the movie that would show you that: killing, revenge or taking a hand against your enemy is not the answer. Because, one way or another he would always face his consequences. It's also a story of deliverance and restoration.

And eventhough you've done something worse you still have a chance to recreate yourself and create a new beginning.

They portrayed Aslan here really well.

Peter Pevensie: When Aslan bares his teeth, winter meets it's end.
Lucy Pevensie: When Aslan shakes his mane, it's spring again.

You would fear Him but He can comfort you. Hayhay.

A nice movie although it lacked the memorable quotes and some parts of the book was altered, I also did not remember a spark of romance between Susan and Caspian. Funny lines can be found. The action/battle scenes was great and all. Cinematography and Visual Effects was a WOW. The musical score sure is one amazing treat! The Pevensie's did a great acting job than the first, they improved here.

I felt it was a short movie, but it actually runs for 147 minutes. Man, that sounds like: "Time flies when you are having fun!"

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - 2008

I thought this was a remake but I found out it's actually the Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures. I never got around to watch the first 3 installments even though it's just lying in my parent's room for months already.

The famous archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry Walton Jones also known as "Indiana" / "Indy" (Harrison Ford) is called back into action, year 1957 when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind the mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.

It opens with Indy, kidnapped by a team of KGB agents led by a Russian scientist (Cate Blanchett) who wants to know everything,and was taken to the same vast Nevada government warehouse where it is said that the Part 1, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," ended.

This time it is not the lost Ark they are looking for. They're after the remains of a flying-saucer crash that contains a clue to what the Russians really want: and this is the Mayan crystal skull with a supernatural power of mind control (hence, the Russian Scientist... wanting to know everything).

What i like about this movie is that it is full of impossible stunts and the humor that made the Indiana Jones series such a phenomenon of its time. It also contained some thrills and suspense making you squirm in your chair or whatever you are sitting on. It has lots of goofy oftentimes cheesy action that kids love (even moi!).

If you are into adventures and all that.. this one is for you. this film is fun in it's own way.

Die Hard 4.0 - 2007

A new breed of terrorists is brewing and it's bound to attack the U.S. during the Independence Day weekend. Over the weekend a couple of hackers died and there was a massive computer attack that would threaten the U.S. infrastructure.

John MacClane was assigned to bring hacker Matt Farrell (Justin Long) into the FBI after a couple of the top security mainframes of the government got hacked. When they arrived at the FBI (they survived a series of attacks from the terrorists before arriving), the country is facing a war with "cyber terrorists".

I actually like it. Contrary to some "negative reviews", there were too many people who expected this movie to be good but was disappointed because some thought it did not live up to par with the first 3 Die Hard series. {I actually did not see the first 3, so I guess I can't say much} But, better or not, I enjoyed the whole movie. The action scenes and stunts were so cool (specially the tunnel one), there was a bit of humor courtesy of Justin Long (but not much that would make it too korny). It also delved into the techie side which made another plus points. Although, a lot would talk about many things that is soooo technically wrong about it.

If you are looking for the anti-hero McClane and a much violent Die Hard film, this is not it. Those negative reviews are raving about this because McClane seemed to be out-of-character in this film.

Slacker Kid: Hey, Matt, I just downloaded that new copy of Killzone, the one that's not out yet. You wanna play?

SVT #54 - The Big Party Weekend

Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield (Steven, Elizabeth & Jessica's parents) are on vacation in Mexico for five days. Steven, Elizabeth and Jessica planned to have the biggest party for the weekend with their friends. That was, before they found out that they would encounter, the world's meanest baby-sitter - May Brown.

But the Wakefield kids are determined to throw the party during the weekend, with great food and their friends - with no adults. They make a plan they copied from a soap opera to get May out of the house.

Entertaining and nice ending - as usual. Good for kids ages 9-14.

If I am in my teenies stage... I would enjoy reading this. So I'm giving it a 3.

He was able to separate himself from his body and he was given the chance to re-create his current reality.

The first "Deepak Chopra" book I have read.

Though it is fiction it is also very enlightening. It brought me once again to light. It reminded me once again to just be in the light when one is in the dark. This basically talks about guides and angels.. very nice. I like the "Angel's Voice" part here.

SVU Thriller Edition - Killer at Sea

Jessica Wakefield and Nick Fox went sailing spontaneously. Nick Fox wanted to be away from his work as a detective because his recent case went haywire and he wasn't feeling up to par. His boss gave him a break to unwind.

Elizabeth Wakefield was deeply troubled of leaving Jessica to Nick that time because Nick was in a bad mood. The gut feeling of a twin sister is taking it's toll. Little did they know Jessica and Nick would pick up to help the guy at sea.

Entertaining. With an air of a "this-should-be-a-tv-series". Not one of SVU's best but equally entertaining.

Nick: You don't need make-up! Who's crazy enough to bring mascara on a sailing trip?
Jessica: Give me a little credit, Nick. It's waterproof.

Prince and Me 2: The Royal Wedding - 2006

Overview and Review of Prince and Me 2 directed by Catherine Cyran

Crowned Prince Edvard (Luke Malby) and Paige (Kam Heskin) are both engaged to be married. The press in Denmark are talking about them NON-STOP. They should be married before the 23rd birthday of the Prince (He is the heir to the throne and he needs to get married to inherit the throne). Paige is juggling her medical studies while trying to organize her wedding and act as a "Crowned Queen".

Back in Norway a penniless cousin of the royal family finds an OLD LAW that states if a prince was crowned without a bride, his bride be of a royal Scandinavian Blood or he must relinquish the throne. This noble royal cousin happens to have a daughter named Kirstin who was also Edward's childhood friend.

Anyhow, that was how the movie started. Although, I can say there were a few loopholes about the facts in this movie which would prolly enrage some people in Denmark (as what I read in a review who apparently came from Denmark). But, movies make mistakes when it comes to facts and it sure wouldn't be that "believable".

I like how the story of this sequel went. It would've been better if they didn't change the cast. The new actress Kam Heskin looked a bit like "Julia" but she isn't Julia. I think Kam Heskin is a great actress and all, but the chemistry between her and Luke Malby(the Prince) was not that good. In these kind of movies... "Chemistry" between the actor and actress should be GREAT.

A good, clean fun movie in many ways. (not that great ok?)

There's a sequel to this... Prince and Me 3 a project for the year 2008. I do hope they don't change the characters this time.

I like how it was written. It gives you the chilling edge and would make you want to read more of the book. Although, the ending was kind of "hanging" in the end because of it's second book. It's a great story. Readers or Non-readers would love the book.
