Well, uhmmm looks like transformers ... with all those aliens and stuff. And well, while I enjoyed watching it, specially on some of it's comedic scenes. I know it could've used a little more depth. But its fun to see all those heroes we love all in one movie. Trying to work together despite their differences.

Note: That I'm no comic book fan... so, I guess you know where I am coming from. If you are a fan of them Marvel Heroes... well, I'm sure you would've been blown by now, seeing all of them on screen. :)

Green Lantern - 2011

Category: Movie

Genre: Fantasy / Adventure

Director: Martin Campbell

Writer: Greg Berlanti, Michael Green

Producer: Warner Bros. Pictures, De Line Productions, DC Entertainment

Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Tim Robbins, Jay O. Sanders, Taika Waititi, Angela Bassett, Mike Doyle and more

Tagline: One of us.. becomes one of them.

A test pilot, named Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) was granted a mystical green ring that gives him superhuman powers. The source of power is from the Green Lantern Intergalactic Corps and he was admitted as member of the peace keeping squad of the universe.

I watched this with the LEAP Team. Which makes it great. We all came from our graduation weekend somewhere in Antipolo and our Coaches and our co-Leapers were with us to bond.

This movie sure has similar indications about the "Galactic Federation of Light" which makes it really cool for me. I'm not much of a comic fan... but I've heard the movie sticked to the story based on the comic. The movie isn't that amazing... however it brought a deep storyline about fear and will of humans.

Quotes I Like:

Tomar-Re: Billions of years ago, a race of immortals harnessed the most powerful force in existence: the emerald energy of willpower. These immortals, the Guardians of the Universe, built a world from where they could watch over all of existence: the planet Oa. They divided the universe into 3600 sectors, a ring powered by the energy of will was sent to every sector of the universe to select a recruit. In order to be chosen by the ring, it is said that one must be without fear. Together, these 3600 recruits formed the intergalactic peacekeepers known as the Green Lantern Corps.

Hal Jordan: The one thing a Green Lantern is supposed to be is fearless. That isn't me...
Carol Ferris: You have the ability to overcome fear!

Tomar-Re: Your will turns thought into reality. To master the ring you must learn to focus your will and create what you see in your mind. The ring's limits are only what you can imagine.

Hal Jordan: What is that?
Tomar-Re: It is the energy generated from the central battery. It's power comes from the will of every living creature in the universe. This in turn charges your lantern which in turn charges your ring. Even your suit is comprised entirely of energy.
Hal Jordan: What's with all the green?
Tomar-Re: Green is the color of will. The guardians harnessed will because it is the strongest source of energy in the universe.

Hal Jordan: He said the ring would have not chosen me if it hadn't seen something. But I don't see it. Carol Ferris: I see it. I always have. The ring did not see that you are fearless. It saw that you have the ability to over come fear. It saw that you are courageous. And you are, just like your dad.

Hal Jordan: You know... there is a saying in my planet, we say 'I am only human'. We say it because we are vulnerable, we say it because we are afraid, but that does not mean that we are weak.

Hector Hammond: How wonderful that all it took for you to grow is the end of the world!

Tomar-Re: Of all the Lanterns who have ever worn the ring, there was one whose light shined brightest. At first his humanity was thought to be a weakness, and yet it proved to be his greatest strength.

Sinestro: Though his time wearing the ring has has been brief, Hal Jordan's defeat of Parallax will be remembered as long as the Corps exists. His actions are a reminder of why the ring chose each of us - to overcome fear, and destroy evil wherever it may hide. As Lanterns we must fight with all our will. Our wills have not always been united. It's time they were.

X-Men: The Last Stand - 2006

Category: Movie

Genre: Sci-Fi / Action

Director: Brett Ratner

Writer: Simon Kinberg, Zak Penn

Producer: Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Marvel Enterprises, Donners Company and more.

Tagline: Evolution will make a last stand.

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijin, Shawn Ashmore, Aaron Stanford, Ellen Page and more.

Overview and Review of the movie X-Men: The Last Stand.

The years have been good with the mutants and humans so far. They have institutionalized some laws about Mutants having a separate department for them in the government. The scientists found a cure for Mutants for them to be normal. A line was drawn amongst two camps of Mutants, the X-Men, which was led by Professor Charles Xavier, and the Brotherhood, a band of powerful mutants organized under Xavier's former ally, Magneto.

As usual I enjoyed the fight scenes. Although I enjoyed that different characters were introduced but the swiftness of the film made it difficult to establish the different characters. Too bad NightCrawler wasn't around on the film. I was deeply sad that most of the major characters died on this film. *sigh* Great thing Ellen Page is here! :)

X-Men 2: X-Men United - 2003

Category: Movie

Genre: Action / Sci-Fi

Director: Bryan Singer

Writer: Zak Penn, David Hayter

Producer: Marvel Enterprises, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Rebecca Romijin, Brian Cox, Alan Cumming, Bruce Davison, Aaron Stanford, Shawn Ashmore.

Tagline: In this world wide conspiracy the only thing you can count on... Is the X factor.

It has been months when the X-Men helped to have Magneto imprisoned in a plastic chamber from the previous movie X-Men. Now another danger is looming as a mutant who goes by the name "Nightcrawler" got into the White House and tried to assassinate The President. So, once again the mutants band together by looking for Nightcrawler.

Once again this movie never failed to amaze me. It is really living up to par with it's first film that went out and is about to satisfy the die-hard fan of the said comics. The actors really did a great job. I like this part because the X-Men are finally getting united to fight one battle. :) I like nightcrawler's views. :)

Although Magneto and Professor X has different views they still kept their love for each other. It's really kind of wonderful how they cannot kill one another. They'd fight for their own causes but never losing what they had in the past - friendship. :)

QUOTES I LIKE:

Professor X: Mutants. Since the discovery of their existence they have been regarded with fear, suspicion, often hatred. Across the planet, debate rages. Are mutants the next link in the evolutionary chain or simply a new species of humanity fighting for their share of the world? Either way it is a historical fact: Sharing the world has never been humanity's defining attribute.

Nightcrawler: You know, outside the circus, most people were afraid of me. But I didn't hate them. I pitied them. Do you know why? Because most people will never know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes.
Storm: Well, I gave up on pity a long time ago.
Nightcrawler: Someone so beautiful should not be so angry.
Storm: Sometimes anger can help you survive.
Nightcrawler: So can faith.

Storm: [about Nightcrawler's markings] So... What are they?
Nightcrawler: They're angelic symbols, passed on to mankind by the archangel Gabriel.
Storm: They're beautiful. How many do you have?
Nightcrawler: One for every sin. So quite a few.

Wolverine: I need you to read my mind again.
Professor X: Logan, the mind isn't just a box that can be unlocked and opened, it's a beehive with many...
Wolverine: Spare me the lecture.

FUNNY

Policeman: Put the knives down!
Wolverine: I can't.

Professor X: Logan, my tolerance for your smoking in the mansion notwithstanding, continue smoking that in here, and you'll spend the rest of your days under the belief that you're a six-year-old girl.
Wolverine: You'd do that?
Professor X: I'd have Jean braid your hair.

X-Men - 2000

Category: Movie

Genre: Action / Adventure / Sci-Fi

Director: Bryan Singer

Writer: Tom DeSanto, Bryan Singer,

Producer: Twentieth Century Fox, Marvel Enterprises

Cast: Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Tyler Mane, Ray Park, Rebecca Romijin, Bruce Davison, Matthew Sharp, Rhona Shekter, Shawn Roberts and more.

Tagline: The future is here. Trust a few. Fear the rest.

Mutants and Humans are living together but at the same time they fear each other. Most mutants are being bullied by humans and sometimes makes the young mutant fearing he/she isn't normal. Charles Xavier or Professor X, who has a heart for mutants (and is a mutant himself) runs a private academy for young mutants. Two mutants were added to their group Rogue and Logan a.k.a. Wolverine.

One of the comic adaptations that I really enjoy!! Even though this was just done during 2000. It can still be at par with the movies of 2010. It's a wonderful cinematic experience. Great effects and all that.

The actors played the character pretty well and I am very enthused Hugh Jackman is playing Wolverine. :)

The movie makes me wish I am a mutant myself. Haha.

Prof. Charles Francis Xavier: Mutation: it is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.

Magneto: Does it ever wake you in the middle of the night? The feeling that one day they will pass that foolish law or one just like it, and come for you? And your children?
Prof. Charles: It does, indeed.
Magneto: What do you do, when you wake up to that?
Prof. Charles: I feel a great swell of pity for the poor fool who comes to that school... looking for trouble.
Magneto: [halts the game, sighs] Why do you come here, Charles?
Prof. Charles: Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answer?
Magneto: Ah, yes. Your continuing search for hope.
[motions to the guard to take Xavier away]
Magneto: You know this plastic prison of theirs won't hold me forever. The war is still coming, Charles. And I intend to fight it, by any means necessary.
Prof. Charles: And I will always be there, old friend.

Comic Books

Advertisement: Rostam Comic Book

Category: Comics

I have a thing for comics. Any kind of comics. It is where I learned how to love reading. From comics, I scoured for books and more books. It shaped me to read more be it books or comics, in the beginning when I was very young.

I also have a thing for kings and royalties. Of tales and fantasies....

How much more if it is rolled into one?

Rostam Comic Book offers you the Tales from the Shahnameh.

This comic book is an adaption of the Shahnameh or what they call The Epic of the Kings which is one of the definite classics of the world done by the famous Persian poet Ferdowsi. The Shahnameh is considered to be the Persians National epic.

The first series of their book features Rostam, a giant man and a very powerful fighter in his many fantastic adventures. Here, Rostam shows his being powerful and strength and his skill as a warrior but of course with it comes his integrity and loyalty to Iran which he protects and defents from different betrayals of characters.

The first in a trilogy of stories is Rostam: Tales of the Shahnameh would introduce us to the main characters of the story.

Their comic book is a standard American Comic book bearing 32 pages printed in high-quality, semi-glossy paper with a slightly thicker cover for protection and durability. It is also hand-drawn and was scanned and colored in the computer in high detail.

For people who knew the tales from Ferdowsi would love this comic and also even for people who just learned about it would be enticed like moi. It's a great comic book!
