Forbidden Kingdom - 2008

Category: Movie

Genre: Adventure

Director: Rob Minkoff

Tagline: The path is unsafe. The place is unknown. The journey is unbelievable. The battle for eternity is the fantasy of a lifetime.

Cast: Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Michael Angarano, Yifei Liu,

This is a movie based on the classic Chinese novel entitled Journey to the West. This film started in modern-day Boston where an American teenager named Jason,a kung-fu obsessesed fan is buying a couple of kung-fu DVDs from his favorite store which is manned by Old Hop (who is Chan.). A bully then forces Jason to help and rob Old Hop and there his journey began.

With Jet Li and Jackie Chan in one movie? It is definetly a must see. You would wonder whether it would be serious (the presence of Jet Li) or funny (the presence of Jackie Chan). But it proves to be a bit of both. I've never seen a Jet Li movie with Jet Li being funny and all. If you want a comical Jet Li.. you should try watching this. It sure shows the comical side of Jet Li.

This movie also contained a lot of Chinese proverbs and some stories you are probably familiar with. I like the principles and the lessons, also their lines in the movie.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - 2008

Category: Movies

Genre: Adventure

Director: Steven Spielberg

Casts: Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Shia Labeouf, Ray Winston, and more.

Overview and Review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull directed by Steven Spielberg.

I thought this was a remake but I found out it's actually the Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures. I never got around to watch the first 3 installments even though it's just lying in my parent's room for months already.

The famous archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry Walton Jones also known as "Indiana" / "Indy" (Harrison Ford) is called back into action, year 1957 when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind the mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.

It opens with Indy, kidnapped by a team of KGB agents led by a Russian scientist (Cate Blanchett) who wants to know everything, and was taken to the same vast Nevada government warehouse where it is said that the Part 1, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," ended.

This time it is not the lost Ark they are looking for. They're after the remains of a flying-saucer crash that contains a clue to what the Russians really want: and this is the Mayan crystal skull with a supernatural power of mind control (hence, the Russian Scientist... wanting to know everything).

What i like about this movie is that it is full of impossible stunts and the humor that made the Indiana Jones series such a phenomenon of its time. It also contained some thrills and suspense making you squirm in your chair or whatever you are sitting on. It has lots of goofy oftentimes cheesy action that kids love (even moi!).

If you are into adventures and all that.. this one is for you. this film is fun in it's own way.

Intensity - Dean Koontz

Category: Books

Genre: Thriller

Author: Dean Koontz

Review and Overview of the book Intensity written by Dean Koontz.

A young woman named Chyna Shepard gets invited by her only close friend Laura Templeton to stay over for the weekend at her hometown in Napa Valley. Little did they know, a homicidal adventurer/killer intended to kill everybody in the Templeton's farmhouse. Suddenly, Chyna finds out she is the only one living in the farmhouse and as usual the "survivor" just like her past. Compelled to take action and not just hide and try to survive just like before, she decided to go and follow the killer and avenge the Templeton's death, specially Laura's.

Just like the title, the book is Intense since the killer (Edgler Foreman Vess), definetly lives for INTENSITY. There were times when it got a bit slow but it actually serves it's purpose. Most of the story took place within the 24-hours.

Treehouse - Quezon City

Category: Restaurant

Location: Quezon City

True to it's name, it's facade is designed just like a tree house. At the back there are 4 "cottage like" dining places (refer to the picture below). It was a Sunday when we dined there and there weren't many people over there. Although, by Tuesday (pay day) it was buzzing with excitement. All waiters got pretty busy.

During our first visit we ordered their "Filipino Fiesta" package which includes bulalo, sizzling sisig, pinakbet, kinunot and a steamed pandan rice with leche flan as a desert. We ordered fresh buko juices as drinks. This package is good for 4 which would cost you 1,099.

The kinunot (our fave) was the best. I also like their pinakbet and bulalo.

Aside from the Filipino Fiesta, they also have Kare Kare Lauriat, Inihaw lauriat and crispy pata lauriat.

During our second visit we found out that our favorite "kinunot" is actually a sting ray with creamy coconut milk. You guys ought to try that specialty. Remember: "Kinunot" when you visit this restaurant.

Iron Man - 2008

Category: Movies

Genre: Comics

Director: Jon Favreau

Stars: Robert Downey Jr.,

A review and overview of the movie Iron Man (2008) Directed by Jon Favreau

This is a film based on the Marvel Comics character named Iron Man.

This film stars Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) a billionaire industrialist, C.E.O. of Stark Enterprises and a master engineer who built a powered exoskelon after a life-threatening incident and became the superhero Iron Man.

I decided not to watch it at first because I thought it would be "just another movie" I could miss watching on the big screen and prolly I could just wait and settle for DVD's later on. But, since my bro and sis were persistent... I watched it with them.

I like the pacing of the movie. I like the musical score which I found out was specially made and was character inspired. Robert Downey Jr., did a great job portraying Tony Stark as the famous playboy and as Iron Man himself. Often humorous and sarcastic at times. I like the CGI: effects and all that. It was jussssttt great. I love every minute of it and did I say I enjoyed the musical score (just want to stress that out) ?

I read reviews about they did not nothing to alter the real story of the comic book which made the Iron Man fans fuss over it. And the movie was actually good for all those who never read the comics (like moi).

Lesson I got from the movie: Tony Stark's purpose/mission to continue his father's legacy and also when he finally knew what he wanted to do, after the life-threatening eye-opening incident.

Inipit - Malolos, Bulacan

Category: Food

This one is a specialty from Malolos, Bulacan. And, I suggest you try it.

When I first heard it's name, I thought it would be "crunchy" and all. But, when someone gave this treat to us... it was different from what I expected.

This treat is a cross over between a jelly roll and a Pastel (A Camiguin Island specialty). Why? Because, it is shaped like a mini jelly roll (it is rolled, that's why the name "inipit") and the inside tasted like the yema at a Pastel bun.

You should try it.

Blue Diamonds

Category: Product

I happened to stumble into the Apples of Gold website. They are in the jewelry industry for 25 years already. Their name was derived from the Book of Proverbs which is very applicable for the business model that they have which embodies, integrity, ethics and honesty in their business. They have a wide range of unique jewelry lines that are of the same quality and they come on affordable prices.

I browsed their blue diamond jewelry extensive collection online and my oh my how great their collection looks. Specially the Blue Diamond 1/4 Carat Art Deco Ring (refer to the picture beside). It could probably be one of their most unique piece in this collection.

If you want a fashionable piece, the 1/2 Carat 5 stone "blue and White" Diamond Ring might be for you. You can choose from a 14k White Gold or 14 k Gold. When you mix the two colors (blue and white) they look absolutely fab!

If you want grace and allure rolled into one, you can check out their 4.35 Carat Blue and White Diamond Bangle Bracelet.

All of their blue diamonds are authentic and natural that have been treated.

I recommend you check out their extensive collection and I'm sure they will try to meet your requirements and expectations as customers.

Trellis - Quezon City

Category: Restaurant

Location: Kalayaan Avenue, Quezon City

They say a lot of local actors and actresses dine here.

If you say Trellis, it usually screams "sisig". ("sisig" is their specialty, it is a grilled pork dish). It's setting is pretty much like what we had back in Imay's (Bacolod).

To all smokers this would be a good place but to non-smokers it's que-horror.

Since, I don't eat pork, I can't order their pork sisig.. So.. we opted for the sizzling squid with dilis. The combination was yummy, specially the sauce that they placed on top. Their ChopSuey here is better than what we had back in Mabuhay Panciteria. We also ordered their tuna sisig *although I like Davao Tuna To Go's Tuna Sisig better.

I think this is one of the hang-out for people who practically lives for the night life. There's not much selection of fruit beverages although they have a lot of wine and alcoholic beverages to choose from.

All in all I had a nice dining experience at Trellis.

Mabuhay Panciteria - Malolos, Bulacan

Category: Food

Place: Malolos, Bulacan

The one who guided us said that this "panciteria" is owned by a basketball player. He mentioned a name and since I'm no basketball fan the name escaped my mind.

Our order came a bit late. Of course, from their name their specialty would be: Pancit. I enjoyed their pinakbet and of course their pancit as well. Their chopsuey came out as mediocre. Not that great but not that bad.

Italiani's - SM

Category: Restaurant

Place: SM Megamall

It's price would compete with Marco Polo's Cafe Marco. But, of course the buffet is quite different because everything is ITALIAN. So, if you're into Italian dishes, this place is best for you. You can choose to just order from their unique menu or avail their buffet.

There are lots of choices and is constantly refilled with different dishes. You would surely enjoyed their food ranging from pastas to dessert. There is also a place there where you can create your own pasta. *cool huh?* I also like their viand, of course specially their desserts: tiramisu and cheesecake *imagine my smile when I saw two of my faves over there*

Great place to eat with family, friends or even with your lover.

They also have great customer service.
