I AM - 2010

Category: Movie

Genre: Documentary

Director: Tom Shadyac

Producer: Flying Eye Productions, Homemade Canvas Productions, Shady Acres Entertainment

Stars: Tom Shadyac, Desmond Tutu, Lynne Mctaggart, Noam Chomsky

Tagline:  The Shift is about to hit the fan

With all the documentaries we saw, there is really nothing new to the concept Tom Shadyac is giving. However, this video is really great in a sense that it would really support those who are still waking up. Also, it shows his journey of seeking for the truth. What makes it even more interesting is that he is the man behind successful Hollywood Films, like Ace Ventura, Liar, Liar and more.

With his Hollywood Life and feeling empty and meaningless, he began searching for the truth after a biking accident. Going back to the essentials and thought of having a documentary with 2 Questions:

"What's Wrong with the World?" and "What can we do about it?"

Simple. Also very good film for the youth.

I like how he ended it.. :)

Doc: The Rape of the Town of Lovell - Jack Olsen

Category: Book

Genre: Courtroom / Drama / Non-Fiction

Author: Jack Olsen

For 25 years, the trusted family doctor (Dr. Story) in the town of Lovell, Wyoming, had been raping and molesting the women and children who relied on him.  The naive women victims who are mostly Mormons, realized on their wedding nights the truth about what happens in Dr Story's examination table.

It's long...and uhmm at the middle I was really feeling like I should abandon in reading the book because it was just way too creepy... but I pursued, just to have closure. Was well written and without bias, albeit what happened.

Limitless - 2011

Category: Movie

Genre: Sci-Fi

Writer: Leslie Dixon and Alan Glynn

Director: Neil Burger

Producer: Relativity Media, Virgin Produced, Rogue

Cast: Bradley Cooper, Robert de Niro, Abbie Cornish, Andrew Howard, Anna Friel, Johnny Whitworth, Tomas Arana, Robert John Burke and more

Tagline: What if a pill could make you rich and powerful?

This is about a desperate writer Eddie named Morra (Cooper), who was rejected by his girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) and confirms his belief about himself about not having a future. One day an old friend introduces to him an experimental drug called NZT, that allows him to be laser focused and more confident than any man alive and allows him to use 100 percent of his mind. As he becomes into the perfect version of himself, and begins to rise in the top of the financial world, he begins to draw the attention of Carl Van Loon (De Niro), a business mogul.

I was actually intrigued by the concept, a pill that can allow you to tap the untapped potential of the human brain. Of course, the ideal way would be achieving it through Self Mastery.... but then in a very Western way of thinking, they would always come up with a "pill solution" for everything. It's quite thrilling but it could use room for some improvement here and there and it would be a spectacular blockbuster! :) But, nevertheless, it was a good concept and I enjoyed it. :)

The Hot Zone - Richard Preston

Category: Book

Genre: Non-Fiction / Bio-Thriller

Author: Richard Preston

This book actually recounts the history of ebola virus and marburg virus. The hair-rising idea of having this airborne virus spreading can be quite terrifying.

For awhile there, this book actually kind of "scared" me. And when I bought this I never really thought it was accounting for something that really happened in real life. It was an easy read because it was written like a story, and not some techie-bio-sci-thingamajig.

Also, Preston has this analogy that fatal viruses, are acting as the Earth's own antibodies. Protecting the environment from encroachment of humans. Invasions of the deep rain forests are just warnings for humans to stay away. It's like "The Happening", eh? More like, the Earth responding in a different way.

and because it managed to scare me, i'm giving it a 4.5 :)

Wake of the Perido Star - Gene Hackman & Daniel Lenihan

Category: Books

Genre: Fiction / Adventure

Author: Gene Hackman & Daniel Lenihan

I bought this book because I was curious that an actor co-authored this book .:)

Year 1805. It's about a saga of shipwrecks, pirates and the sea, which narrates the story of a young man who was forced by a family tragedy to join the crew of the Perdido Star.

I think Philippines was even mentioned in the book. :)

In the beginning it was interesting although there were moments in the book wherein you would feel like you want to place the book down. However the middle and the last few chapters were a page-turner.

Shrek Forever After - 2010

Category: Animation

Genre: Fantasy

Director: Mike Mitchell

Writer: Josh Klausner, Darren Lemke

Producer: DreamWorks Animation, Pacific Data Images

Cast: Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, Jon Hamm, John Cleese, Craig Robinson, Walt Dohrn, Jane Lynch, Lake Bell and Kathy Griffin and more

Taglines: What the Shrek just happened?

Shrek is bored and domesticated, and feels like he wants to feel like a "real ogre" again. And so, he made a deal with Rumpelstiltskin. Knowing Rumpelstiltskin being the cunning deal maker that he was - he twisted the deal and went back to the time where ogres are hunted and he and Fiona have never met.

So, Shrek will have to set out on this quest to restore his world and reclaim Fiona as his one true love.

Well, not as funny as the first few installments, and not as magical as them. But, I still enjoyed it... because I miss Donkey!! oh and Puss! hehehe. Great for kids.

Quotes:

Shrek: Fiona, I know everything about you, I know you sing so beautifully that birds explode. I know that when you sign your name, you put a heart over the i. I know that when you see a shooting star you cross your fingers on both hands, squinch up your nose, and you make a wish, I know that you don't like the covers wrapped around your feet, and I know that you sleep by candlelight because every time you close your eyes, you're afraid you're going to wake up back in that tower, But most importantly Fiona, I know that the reason that you turn human every day is because you've never been kissed, well, by me.

Celine: Taking Chances World Tour - 2009

Category: Music / Concert

Genre: Music

Artist: Celine Dion

It's a compilation-documentary of Celine Dion's, Taking Chances World Tour. This is her 9th concert tour.  (2008-2009)

I ENJOYED THE WHOLE THING. I WAS HOOKED.

Celine is sure one hell of a singer and she deserves the DIVA that she is now! She's also sweet and gentle and a great mom and lover! What more could you ask for? She is also sentimental and has a soft heart. (sounds redundant). Well, I like her. :)

Too bad, her voice was over-worked during the world tour and needs a one year rest from all of it. (But, I think she is back - this year.... or was it last year? )
