If You Can See Me Now - Cecilia Ahern

Category: Book

Genre: Drama / Fantasy

Author: Cecilia Ahern

Elizabeth Egan has always been a serious and stiff woman. This was due to her mother leaving their family early on and she was forced to raise her sister Saoirse. Her sister is pretty much like her mom, free-spirited and someone who has no hand on responsibility. Taking advantage of that, Saoirse left Elizabeth with his son, Luke.

At the age of six, Luke claims he has an Invisible Friend named Ivan... at first Elizabeth couldn't see him and begins to think that it's just a phase of Luke's life and that Invisible Friends disappear after three months. But, one day lo and behold she begins to see Ivan but thinks Ivan is the father of Luke's friend.

And off goes this magical yet modern story.

It's my first time to read a Cecilia Ahern book and I LOVEEEE IT!! I found a new love! Whooopee Doo! I like this novel because it mixes the modern and imagination and with a tinge of fantasy in it, which I really really adore. This is a story about "Imaginary Friends". And of fairies and friendship and family and of course Love..... And I just saw online that a movie is being made out of this! Wow.

Love love all the magical moments and wishes. Learned something about Jimmy Jones here (Dandelions) where you get to give out wishes. One of my favorite scenes in the book. It's also heartbreaking whenever it comes to Elizabeth's father... awwww.

It's amazing how one laughs and then cries over the book. At least that was the case for me. :)

Genre: Drama / Chick Flick

Director: Gary Harvey

Writer: Nancy Silvers, Sarah Strohmeyer

Producer: Front Street Pictures

Cast: Poppy Montgomery, Adam Kaufman, Chelah Horsdal, Audrey Wasilewski, Julia Benson, Mark Brandon,Gabriel Rose, Andrew Mclroy and more

Nola Devlin (Poppy Montgomery) is a frumpy magazine editor who is often teased by her coworkers because of her being overweight. But, during night time, she is in front of her computer screen and then she becomes the famous advice columnist Belinda Apple. But then her secret identity is threatened by the superiors of the Magazine she is working for. So, she's forced to face the issue as her life begins to change along the way.

I actually liked the whole film. There were no evil stepsisters. only an evil boss. No glass slippers just a column in a magazine that is being threatened. And for her to find her true love. If you just want to be entertained... I'd recommend you this.

Roadhouse Cafe

Category: Restaurant

Location: SM Davao City and also in Bukidnon

I first ate here last January 16, 2008. Been eating there ever since.. :) once every 2 months?? But, lately only when we have friends and guests and we have extra time to go to SM do we dine here.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Davao. :)

I love their Mango Pandan Dessert. And you better order their sizzling pochero! For the veggie afficionados, you gotta try the Pinakbet. Great service too. Ambience, gives you a cozy familial feeling.

Roadhouse Cafe is located at SM 1st floor in front of National Bookstore in Davao City.

Chalet Girl - 2011

Category: Movie

Genre: Chick Flick

Director: Phil Traill

Writer: Tom Williams

Producer: UK Film Council, Aegis Film Fund, Prescience

Cast: Felicity Jones, Ed Westwick, Bill Nighy, Brooke Shields, Tamsin Egerton, Bill Bailey,  Sophia Bush,

Kim Matthews (Felicity Jones) who is 19, used to be a champion skateboarder. She was traumatized by her mom's death causing her to stop her love for skateboarding. Now, she is stuck in a small time job trying to support her Dad. But, then opportunity came knocking on her door and swept her off to an exclusive chalet in the Alps. And there she would meet her handsome, rich, engaged boss, named Jonny (Ed Westwick).

It looks like a drab movie at the opening credits.... and I was thinking whether to push thru with the movie or not. However it has a tinge touch of humor thrown here and there specially by the lead female which actually made me stick. By the middle, I was getting in touch with the story.

I like Tamsin Egerton here she looks like one of my friends Czar. The way she moves and speaks.. haha. :) cute. Entertaining albeit predictable.

Summer's Child - Luanne Rice

Category: Book

Genre: Romance

Author: Luanne Rice

It has been nine years since "sunny" Mara Jameson disappeared from her seaside Connecticut hometown. Every year their town newspaper would headline the day she disappeared. Eventhough the husband was questioned, foul play was never charged and her disappearance remained a mystery. For nine years, two individuals are still affected by Mara's disappearance - her grandmother named Maeve, and Patrick Murphy, a retired police detective whose obsessive search for Mara's case destroyed his marriage

It's a book about reunion, unconditional love and of miracles, which is often the case for Luanne Rice's books. It's a murder mystery with family values, about mothers and daughters supporting each other... and protecting each other... of course with a dash of romance and commitment to love.
