Overview and Review of the movie The Fountain.

This movie got three stories, one from past, present and the future. All about men who are in pursuit of eternity with their love.

The Past: A conqueror in a Mayan country on a bloody hunt for a Mayan temple that has the tree of life to free his captive queen; The Present: a medical researcher, is working with various trees, to look for a cure to save his dying wife; The Future: a space traveler, is traveling with an aged tree encapsulated within a bubble, moves toward a dying star that's wrapped in a nebula; All stories intersect and parallel; while their quests takes them to failure and success. All stories talked about living, loving, and dying.

I got all excited about the Mayan connection to this movie. It has this mystical ring to it, when it involves that. It's a unique film. Not a lot of films delves on this kind of topic. The delivery of the film, the actors did a great job, it has a beautiful cinematography. The story itself is poetic, and a lot are saying it's 'an art'. It touches one's spirit.

Quotes I Like:

Grand Inquisitor Silecio: Our bodies are prisons for our souls. Our skin and blood, the iron bars of confinement. But fear not. All flesh decays. Death turns all to ash. And thus, death frees every soul.

Izzi: Every shadow no matter how deep is threatened by morning light.

Dr. Lillian: Tommy, no one invents new drugs overnight, no one! You're not being rational. You can't fix everything!
Tom: Don't tell me what I can and can't do.
Dr. Lillian: Your wife needs you! Why are you here?
Tom: Why the fuck do you think I'm here?
