Overview and Review of Wanted a film directed by Timor Bekmambetov
*wathed: June 29,2008*
"What the fuck have you done lately?"
Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is an accounts manager here who allows to be walked upon, ill-treated and brought low by the people around him specially his boss Janice. He tries to deal with his life and dull it out through the anti-anxiety pills he takes. He is a nobody and has no whatever tendency to change the way his life is until one day at the store where he frequently buys his pills he meets a beautiful woman, Fox (Angelina Jolie) who would mark the change of his life forever.
I like the crooked, sarcastic narration of James McAvoy which actually fits the movie. Morgan Freeman did his part well and of course there's Angelina Jolie who is looking hot and deadly a lethal combination which suits her pretty well. This movie is very fast and it catches me off guard almost every chance it gets. Violence you can expect plus the humor and sarcasm. Bloody and a bit gory for me. Action packed as well. With all those bending bullets, train scenes, bloody lessons, knife and gun works, and exploding peanut-buttered rats.
I also like the memorable lines you can get from this movie.
Oh and my birth date appeared as well. Ain't that cool??? Yay!
It was a fast ride with this one. If The Happening was slow and old fashioned... this one is the opposite, it is fast and very techie-cool.
The sole purpose of this blog is to give a review of books I've read, movies I've seen, places I've been, and food I've eaten For blogs, websites and business establishments as well. Or anything under the sun that needs a review. It can be your shoe or even your boo.

The Happening - 2008
Category: Movie
Genre: Mystery Writer/Director/Producer: M. Night Shyamalan
Tagline: We've Sensed It. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening.
Casts: Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo, Ashlyn Sanchez, Betty Buckley and more.
Rated R for violent and disturbing images.
Overview and Review of The Happening written, produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
"If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live."
-- Albert Einstein
Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) is a science teacher here and he appeared while he was on a science lecture with students. Apparently, strange things have been occurring and people were fleeing from Godknowswhat and with them was Elliot and Alma Moore, Julian and Jess.
M. Night Shyamalan wanted this movie to be natural as possible. Neat and Old School. Going back before computers and technology were invented and when it was just all about "directing and storytelling". That's why a lot said, it was dull because it lacked the technology which was actually the point of the whole movie. "A 2008 version of a 1950's paranoia." - from The Happening.
Very troubling and kinda insane, a bit gory that I have to shield my eyes from the screen. Man, I just don't have the guts to watch disturbing scenes such as what Shyamalan presented in "The Happening".
People might see it as monotonous because it lacked action but for me it has it's own approach that is totally different from other movies *and indeed it is different* - one thing is that it makes you think. It's a "What If?" situation. It could be possible. It's actually one wake up call from nature and a different wake up call at that. It's not tsunami or a high intensity earthquake or a volcano erupting... but much more disturbing than what I just mentioned.
For people who are into "action" this movie is not for you. and for people who wants to think... and loves "what-if's" scenarios this one is for you.

Teens Ask Deepak: All the right Questions - Deepak Chopra
Category: Books
Genre: Self-Help
Author: Deepak Chopra
Overview and Review of Deepak Chopra's Teens Ask Deepak: All the Right Questions.
This is a book for teens and is all about the BIG QUESTIONS teens usually ask that adults can't answer or squirm when it comes up. This book is divided into five chapters: How Spirit Works, Success, Well-Being, Relationships, and God. It also centered on the questions that teens asked online or in person.
What I like about this book is that it tackles a lot about what we all have been wondering about. What is Success? Can we change the world? It also has a lot of tips, steps and ways that you could follow to improve your life. Very inspiring and an eye-opener at that. Would be very useful to your kids who loves to ask the BIG QUESTIONS. Hehe.
The sequence of the book is good, you can easily understand it. This book is very simple yet profound. Even adults could use this. Really.

The Valkyries - Paulo Coelho
Category: Books
Genre: Spirituality
Author: Paolo Coelho
Overview and Review of The Valkyries authored by Paolo Coelho.
This is an autobiographical book, but told using the third person.
Why do we destroy the things we love? It was the question Paolo asked during this journey.
This journey involved looking for angels and in order to see them Paolo with his wife Christina must seek out the advice of The Valkyries who roamed the area. They traveled to the Mojave Desert for the 40 day Quest. An authentic story of being in the darkness, seeking out the light, and having a mentor.
This is a nice book about finding your angel and a wonderful spiritual journey at that. An enlightening book and a delightful read. You would cherish all the words that you would read next. There are a lot of "symbolical" events in the book as well. This book is a lot of things really. Its about love, light, angels, life, death, darkness, fear, rituals, and very spiritual it is. It can certainly touch your heart, mind and soul. A modern day magical, enchanting adventure..

Kung Fu Panda - 2008
Category: Movie
Genre: Animation
Director: Mark Osborne and John Stevenson
Voices: Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian Mcshane, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross and more.
Tagline: Prepare for awesomeness. Summertime is Pandatime.
Overview and Review of Kung Fu Panda Directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson.
Po is the name, a sweet and clumsy Panda one of the biggest fan of Kung Fu dreams of being a Kung Fu Master and adores the Furious Five - Tigress(Angelina Jolie), Crane(David Cross), Mantis(Seth Rogen), Viper(Lucy Liu) and Monkey(Jackie Chan). But with all his wildest dreams of being a Kung Fu Master, he is stuck with his father in a Noodle shop and expected to follow after him.
To Shi Fu(Dusin Hoffman) it was an accident to Oogway(Randall Duk Kim), there are no accidents. To fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become a reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five -- Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey -- under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu.
There's also the vengeful and double-crossing snow leopard Tai Lung(Ian Mclane) who is headed their way from escaping at a prison, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat.
It's actually a great animation. Aside from all the funny antics and Po's big butt it has a moral lesson. And a deep one at that. It's a lesson about a Master-Student Relationship. You would learn about the "Secret Ingredient" which proves to be the most significant lesson in the whole movie. Also, it is "soo real life" or "sooo true" with people.
ooh and I like Panda's by the way! =)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - 2008
Category: Movies
Genre: Fantasy
Director: Andrew Adamson
Based on a book by C.S. Lewis
Cast: Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Sergio Castellitto, Peter Dinklage, Warwick Davis and more.
Taglines: A New Age Has Begun. Everything you know is about to change forever.
Overview and Review of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian directed by Andrew Adamson
It's been a year since their first adventure in Narnia.
When Prince Caspian blew Susan's horn (which she left in Narnia) Peter Pevensie,(William Moseley) Susan Pevensie (Anna Popplewell) , Edmund Pevensie (Skandar Keynes)and Lucy Pevensie(Georgie Henley) finds themselves being pulled back to Narnia. They found out that hundreds of years have passed in the land of Narnia and Narnians are thought to be extinct and it is now ruled by General Miraz, uncle to the true heir, which is Prince Caspian(Ben Barnes). This time the Pevensie's with the help of Prince Caspian and Reepicheep must set out to overthrow the General while looking for Aslan.
History: Aslan revelaed to
Caspian that they actually originated from the same Earth as the Pevensies. Years ago, pirates in the "South Sea" (of our world) came upon an island, and, after entering a cave, fell (through a chasm) into Telmar. Telmar is the country to the West of Narnia. After many years in Narnian time, the Telmarines, who suffered famine and internal conflict, invaded and seiged Narnia. During this time, the animals of Narnia fled into hiding, as the human Telmarines came to dominate the land. Prince Caspian was the tenth in a line of kings by that name.
Narnians thought Aslan forgot them, but actually Aslan was just waiting for them and everything have their own season. Also a story of treachery or betrayal over POWER. That it always, almost happens and you shouldn't be surprised. It also portrayed a lot of good things, specially when you are faced with a person "you would love to really hate and kill" because he has wronged you big time. And this is just the movie that would show you that: killing, revenge or taking a hand against your enemy is not the answer. Because, one way or another he would always face his consequences. It's also a story of deliverance and restoration.
And eventhough you've done something worse you still have a chance to recreate yourself and create a new beginning.
They portrayed Aslan here really well.
Peter Pevensie: When Aslan bares his teeth, winter meets it's end.
Lucy Pevensie: When Aslan shakes his mane, it's spring again.
You would fear Him but He can comfort you. Hayhay.
A nice movie although it lacked the memorable quotes and some parts of the book was altered, I also did not remember a spark of romance between Susan and Caspian. Funny lines can be found. The action/battle scenes was great and all. Cinematography and Visual Effects was a WOW. The musical score sure is one amazing treat! The Pevensie's did a great acting job than the first, they improved here.
I felt it was a short movie, but it actually runs for 147 minutes. Man, that sounds like: "Time flies when you are having fun!"
For Aslan and for Narnia!
